So I'm hoping to go for the far east in February 2019 for a couple of weeks. I recently bought a world sim card online and preloaded it with £20 credit. I tested it out and had a look at the itemised billing. I'm a bit concerned about using data abroad as I found out they actually round up the cost if you use above a megabyte worth of data. So if I use 1.1mb of data, I will be charged for 2mb. I can see my credit being used up very quickly abroad, so I will have to ration my use of the web on my phone abroad very carefully ( unless I buy more credit ). To back myself up I will probably purchase an ee add on for calls ant text. However, EE's data pricing is also very expensive ( 500mb for £6/day). Am I just better of just buying a local sim which will be preloaded with calls/data and text ? Hoping to visit China, Japan and Hong Kong.
